Pad Color	Abrasiveness Level	Primary Use
Yellow / Maroon	Heavy Cutting (Most Abrasive)	Used with compounds to remove severe defects, deep scratches, heavy oxidation, and swirl marks.
Orange	Medium Cutting	Used with polishes to remove moderate defects, light scratches, and water spots. This is a common “all-around” pad.
White / Green	Light Polishing	Used with cleaner waxes or fine polishes to refine the finish after a cutting step. Removes very light swirls.
Blue / Black	Finishing / Waxing (Least Abrasive)	Used for applying glazes, waxes, and sealants. It has little or no cut and is meant to create a deep, final gloss.
Red	Ultra-Fine Finishing	For the final application of a high-end sealant or wax on sensitive paint.
