Quality Ac clamp meter

KSh1,999.00

An AC clamp meter is a specialized electrical testing tool designed primarily to measure Alternating Current (AC) in a conductor without making physical contact with the live wire or breaking the circuit. This non-invasive method significantly enhances safety and convenience for electricians, technicians, and anyone working with electrical systems.

How it Works (Magnetic Induction Principle):

The core principle behind an AC clamp meter is magnetic induction, specifically using a current transformer (CT). Here’s a simplified explanation:

  1. Current Flow Creates a Magnetic Field: When alternating current flows through a wire, it generates a fluctuating magnetic field around that wire. The strength of this magnetic field is directly proportional to the amount of current flowing.
  2. Jaws Act as a Transformer Core: The distinctive “jaws” of the clamp meter are made of a ferrite iron core. When you clamp these jaws around a single conductor, they effectively “capture” and concentrate this magnetic field.
  3. Induced Current in a Coil: Inside the clamp meter’s jaws, there’s a coil of wire. As the magnetic field from the conductor fluctuates (due to AC current), it induces a much smaller alternating current in this internal coil, much like a transformer.
  4. Measurement and Display: The clamp meter’s internal circuitry then measures this induced current and scales it to display the actual current flowing through the main conductor on its digital screen.

Key Features and Advantages:

  • Non-Contact Measurement: This is the most significant advantage. You don’t need to cut the wire, disconnect components, or insert the meter in series, making measurements faster, safer, and less disruptive.
  • Safety: By avoiding direct contact with live circuits, the risk of electrical shock is greatly reduced.
